MORE COPPER MINES BONDED
Clark Syndicate Secures a Dozen More
Nevada Properties, .
Messrs. Snedaker and Shear, the experts representing the Olark syndicate
that has become so largely interested
in the copper mines of this district,
have been engaged since their arrival
here last week in surveying the boundaries of the claims already acjuired
and in addition have bonded about'a
dozen more. The new acquisitions are
the Famous and Bully Boy, owned by
John Weber; the August, owned by P.
©. Weber and. Thomas Rockhill; the
Boss of Nevada, owned by Mrs. Magnusonand-Thomas~ Rockhill, and the
Turkey, Spion Kop and Last Hope,
owned by Thomas Rockhill. We un“ derstand that the bonds are to run for
one year and involve the performance of
considerable development work, while
the ultimate price to be paid aggregates
nearly $20,000. In addition to these
properties, five or six claims belonging
to R. A. Riepe have been tied up.
Altogether this syndicate now holds
nearly forty claims in this district,
the greater portion of them adjoining
and making one immense group, on
which development work is being
pushed in several places. About
twenty-five men are now employed,
and this force will without doubt be iacreased as room is made for them.—

Why Is It?
One of the wonders from this distance is why the French people have
gone so wild over Oom: Paul. In the
abstract he is not cutting a great
world figure. He has not justified the
early prognostication of a heroic character in a homely setting. At the
crucial time he did not develop fine
stuff in his make-up. He even ran
away. The French may be moved by
their hatred for England or their long
immunity from hysterics. In either
case they are scarcely understandable.
