It is being handled in an extensive manner. ~ Marysville Democrat: During some time past negotiations have been under way for the sale of a quartz mine near Olipper Mills, owned by Paris Bean and his brother, Today J. M. Beck of San Francisco and W. J. Pierce of Pasadena went to the claim from this city by team, and the gentlemen expect to close the deal before retarning. In two weeks time active mining operations will be commenced by the Shady Oreek Placer Mining Company at Cherokee, The ditches, flames and pipe line have been completed and when a few other preliminaries are atranged the washing of gravel wil] commence, Tbe Mountain mine, near the Sierra Battes, and five miles northeast of Si. erra City, is preparing to start up, the manager of the property, L. H. Carver of San Francisco, having made all necessary arrangements. The mine is 7,000 feet about sea level and has been worked by a net-work of tunnels. The principal development has been from No.8 tunnel. A lower tunnel, No. 4, was started and will be continued to the vein, which contains several shoots The ore values are mainly in free gold, with some auriferous pyrites. An aerial tramway 6,200 feet in length connects the mine. with the 40-stamp mill, which is on the river, 1800 feet lower in elevation. Twenty stamps in the mill will be dropped to start with, until further development, Belt concentrators will be put in, as only amalgamating was done in previous operations. Sg THE HONE. MINE Modern and Down-toDate Rquipment Now On the Property. The Home Mining Company, at their valuable gold producer on Deer Creek, just below the Providerce mine, have just completed the remodeling and enlargement of their hoist and blacksmith shop, The building, which is now 225 feet in length, hae been so arranged that convenience forms one of its chief and main features and is calculated to facilitate matters greatly. The different departments are all on a level, which is a pleasing and marked improvement to those interested, Not only has the buildings been made more commodious, but the hoist has been installed with extra modern and improved machinery for the hoisting, handling and working of the ore in a practical and systematic manner, The incline shaft on the property is down 750 feet, with the customary Sstation cut and drifts running north and south on the ledge. The ledges in the mine raa.on an average of from three to eight feet in width A large force of men is engaged in taking out ore and the underground workings presents a busy and propitious scene that is bighly gratifying and encouraging. The rock extracted, which is of good grade, is taken out in sufficient quantities to keep the thirty-stamp mill at the works poundicg continuously day and night in an endeavor to keep up. The Home mine, since coming ander the euperintendency of Daniel J, MoFall, bas made rapid and striking strides in the development of its property, which today ranks as one of the best and foremost producers in the State. A man of rare forethought and judgment Mr Me Fall bas succeeded ip placing the mine ina class which apeaks volumes for the excellent, capable and efficient manner in which it has been bandied to the best interests of the owners and all concerned, L. J. Rose Jr. of Oxnard, president of the company, and H. K. Fish, R. G. Bonestell, i. H. Fisher and Obarles Groezinger of San Francisco, comprising the Board of Directors, who arrived last evening, today made ap inspection of the property and they were favorably impreseed with what they saw, feeling confident that they have one of the finest equipped plants in the county and & little bonanza to back it up. The gentlemen will re turn to their homes Friday. a @=ee ‘ _ Done in Nevada << County. Twenty-Stamp Mill Has Arrived at the Depot. . The twenty-stamp mill for the Oanfleld mine at Blue Tent arrived at the depot last evening, and the machinery will be hauled ont to the site without delay. The structure for the new mill is pretty well along, under the supervision of Millwright ©. ©. Weigenbarger, It will not be long now until the twenty stamps are dropping on rich gravel, and Superintendent ClHit= ford Graham ig looking forward to the starting up of the mill with great expectanoy, as his ambition has been to have it running before the heavy storms of mid-winter set in. The success of this gravel proposition will give great encouragement to like projects under consideration in different parts of the county. The Canfield ‘is being worked on & systematic basis, Superintendent Graham being. one of the best driit miners inthis. district. This fact is fally appreciated by the owners of the property, which beyond doubt has a bright future before it. W. W. Waggoner, U.S Debris Com-: missioner, who visited the river barriers Saturday, found number two almost completed, the stone and brush being nearly all in place. Work on number one is being also rushed, a quarry having been opened up and a tramway built out over the site to carry the rock where wanted. Lewis Moering has commenced on his contract of raising the earth embankmen:' that was put in last winter. About the barriers and work is being done with a push in order to complete it in ime to avoid the spring freshets. Loveland is now selling his famous bread at five cents a loaf at the Popular Bakery.
