“John,” said a loving wife, “I wish
you would sing two or three lines of a
song for me.”
“What on earth do you want metodo
that for?”
“There is something I want you to
bring home, and I’ve forgotten what it
is, but I think I'll remember it if you
sing.”
The good-natured husband complied,
and the charming wife said:
“I remember now. It's a file I want.”

FUNNY PLAYMATES.
/
A Little Girl, Her Pet Rooster and a
Cat Produce Music Such as Was
Never Heard Before,
Little Lottie Thompson, of Philadelphia, is one of a curious trio. Her pet
playmates are a rooster and a cat. The
rooster is called Peter and has a gorgeous red comb. The cat rejoices in the
name of Blondy.
Blondy antedates his little mistress’
advent in the family by two years, but

he does not give himself any airs or exact rights of priority on this account.
Peter had an adventure lately. He was
stolen by the republicans to crow. for
them at the polls, but, being a loyal
bird, he stoutly refused to forget his
democratic principles even in the presence of the enemy. Blondy mews a
plaintive ditty to the accompaniment of
the rooster’s cackling and the soprano
of little Lottie, and the result is such
music as was never before heard en
land or sea.
