KELLY WAS RESCUED. Was It John Kelly of This City or Some Other Man? The steamer City of Seattle which arrived in San Francisco a few days ago brought news of the drowning of two men in Shallow Lake, in the Klondyke region, on the 30th of September. Three men were tuking their’ goods down by boat when a squall struck them, capsized their boat. and threw them and their outfit into the lake. As near as could be learned two men were drowned and the third managed to keep afloat aud was picked up by another boat. Kelly is said to be the name of the man who was rescued. The names of the lost were Conway and Adams. It was impossible.at the time the City of Seattle left to get at any of the details of the affair. Some of the friends of John Kelly of this city are wondering since they saw the above item in the San Francisco papers whether he is the man who was rescued or if it was some other Kelly. He left here about two months ago, a d when ‘ast heard from was about to } ave Juneau for Dawson City. He w 3 accompanied by Peter Jewell of ius City, Scroruta is the advertisement of foul blood. The strict enforcement of the cow and dog ordinarices by the city trustees meets with the approval of nearly every citizen, and the approval will soon be unanimous if the enforcement continues with impartiality.
