K. Wheelock, who managed the memorable contest, will hold forth at the theater, forfour nights, beginning . tomorrow evening. The San Jose Mercury says that Manager J. E. Poingdestre of the Good Title quartz mine, which is situated in Yuba county two and a half tailes from Dobbins Ranch and not far from the Nevada county line, returned ~ the mine today after two days stay re, Mr. Poingdester says the company expects to have its new ten-stamp mill in operation by the middle of December and the complete pumping and hoisting works being put in will be started about the same time. When that fateful blow is delivered one can see Corbett’s appalling look of agony and can watch the conquerer calmly waiting for the referee to tell off the ten. seconds that will mark the downfall, of the man who knocked out the mighty Jobn L. Sullivan. o, THE COLTS SIZED UP, A Ball Crank. Tells: Where They Are Weak and Strong. A baseball enthusiast’ who saw Monday's game played says of the Colts : “They are the strongest and surest batters in the county. They are fully as good catchers and base-runners as the Monarchs or the Pioneers. ‘They have three serious weaknesses that they must overcome before they: can hope to earn distinction, and they can only overcome them by persistent and earnest practice. They must learn to think quickly and to act without hesitation. They need a good deal of training in throwing to bases unerringly .as well as promptly: Most important of all, they must study strategy and concert ofaction. By the latter I mean that they must place themselves in perfect subjection to their captain, back each other up at every crisis and act together as one man. Without this harmony of sentiment and action they will never winany glory or gamgs. Funeral of EB. R. Bare. *The:funeral of E.R. Bare, the young yharmacist who was formerly employed ‘at Dickerman’s drug store in this city, took place Sunday afternoon from his Jate residénce in Chico. The attendance was so large that only a small por4ion of those present were able to enter the home during the services which were conducted by Rev. O. P. Pann of the Christian church. The choir rendered some appropriate hymns. The members of the A. O. U. The workmen have passed through this, however, and this week are taking out pay ore again. The shaft is only 160 feet deep, but ‘it will bé pushed down as soon as the new hoist and pump are ready. At the 120-foot level a south drift has been run 180 feet and a north drift 150 feet. H. Pengelly, a Nevada City man who ranks as one of the best quartz miners in the State, is the foreman. Mr. Carson, the Secretary! of the company, will leave the mine Saturday for the head office in Cincinnati, but expects to return later with his family mine where a good house is being built for him. Within the next month or two. several of the stockholders will come out from the East to look at the property. They will come to-Marysville in the private car of one of their number— Col. Phillips, who is General Manager of the Central Peninsula & Florida R. BR. Among them will also be Martin Raley, a prominent official of the railroad, and Isaac Joseph, President of the Isaac Joseph Iron Company of Cincinnati. The . distinguished party will be driven over to this city and Grass Valley for a short stay, during which they will visit some of the big quartz mines. The almost certain failure of the starvation cure for dyspepsia has been proven time and pid i but. still the moment Dyspepsia makes its appearein course of dieting is at once advised. All this is radically wrong. It is foolish and unscientific to recommend dieting or starvation toa man suffering trom Dyspepsia, because Indigestion itself starves every organ and every nerve and every fibre in the body. What the Dyspeptic wants is abundant nutrition, which means plerity of good, wholesome, well-cooked food and something to assist the weak stomach to digest it: This is exactly the purpose for which Stuart’s Dyspepsia Pablets are adapted’ and this is the method by which they cure the worst cases of Dyspepsia, in other words the patient eats plenty of wholesome food and Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tablets digest it for him. In this way the system is nourished and the overworked stomach rested, because the tablets will digest the food whether the stomach works or not. One of these tablets will digest
3000 grains of meat or eggs. Your druggist will tell you that Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tablets is the purest and safest remedy sold for “stomach troubles and every trial makes one more friend for this excellent preparation.
