ANOTHER LIE NAILED. The Democratic Papers and Orators Daily Exposed. , The Pemocratic papers are doing more lying about Hon. Grove L, Johnson, the Republican candidate for Congress, thah any other man on the State ticket.; Not content in falsifying his position “ign: the INSANITY IN A MILD FORM. “Billy” Williams in the Insane Asylum at Reno, Nevada. ‘ Many of our citizens will remember Wm. Williams or, as he was often called, **Arivona Billy,” who resided for quite @ time iu this city and Grass Valley, He came here and engaged in the saloon business but mining question they aré now asserting that he is in favor of the Reilly funding bill, amy an advocate of the railroad’s interests. Tinab such a statement is false we re-produce the following quotation from Grove L. Jehnson’s speech, which he bes made at every place he has visited. This gives the lie to the Democratic charges: “Pellow-citizens, inasmuch as Tam a Californian as I favor my own people, as I wish to lighten our burdens and not to increase them, d am unalterably opposed to the passage of the so-called Reilly funding bill. I have it with me. . I have examined it care. -have studied it in detail. It is a mortgage on California. It provides for the payment by you and by me and by our children of the debts the railroad company owes the United States. This Reilly funding bill provides for the payment at your hands-—at the hands of the people of Californias—of $2,550,000 a year to the national Government in order to pay off the debt of the railroad compauy. The whole revenue of. the Central Pacifie is $1,250,000 so an extra $1,200,000 will have to be raised by raising the freights and fares. of the railroad. That will come out of your pockets Therefore we should all fully: and out of mine, be opposed to it. 3 ihe Central Pacitic Company is the > only railroad company affected by this bill; it relies for its existence upon California. The amounts received by: the company in the State of Nevada weuld not pay for the oil used to grease the locomotive that travels through the sage-brush of that State, I do not want to pay it and I won't pay it. Ido not care who favors that bill. 1 do not care for one whether every 1 an con aect d with the railroad company from the President down to the lowest man whc shoots out the cars says he is in favor ofik. { do not care if every paper in faver. of the railroad company or not says it is in favor fit, I don’t care if every Democrat in the United States is in favor of it; they cannot pass it and if elected I will fight it_as_furi{ ously as 1 know, how in session and out of . seasion. And I will try to be so dangerous that they will not pass a bill compelling us to pay a debt of $1,200,009 a year more than we ought to pay.” -200 =e WHEN persons are weak and languid, from sickness or overWerk, feel debilitated and depressed, if\is an indication that the blood is out of order, and they need help to throw off the miserable feeling. The best remedy for this purp7se is Dr. J. H. Me Lean’s Strengthening Cordial and Blood Purifier. He secured rooms at Mrs. Ui ’s residence on Fine street und made that place his stopping quarters while bere. After his business failure it began to be (noticed that his mind was slightly deranged and from the way the man acted on sundry occasions: this soon became a forgone con clusion. He would walk around the principal streets of the city in an aimless and restless manner with no object in view but to-stare at passers-by and would sit on the Pi porch in front of the Quigley -residence forjhours at a time pursuing the same avocation. On one occasion he became rather violent and was examined by a physician and kept confine@ in the house for a few days. After this he seemed to improve some and soon left for the State of Nevada, where he formerly resided. Word now comes to us from Keno that he is confined-in the insane asylum at that place, having been committed there about two months ago. fRANSCRIPY correspondent called at the asylum a few days ago for the purpose of seeing him and was privileged to do 80. ‘Williams is very stout and healthy and receives the best of care at the hands of the asylum officials. His affliction is insanity ip a mild form, he being confined on the charge of simple mindedness, His mind is a perfect blank and. he, is harmless, the asylum officers experiencing no trouble from him whatever. His trouble is supposed to be due from loss of money in different ventures. +7eer-Arrived This Morning. The ‘‘U and1” Company arrived here this morning and will tonight make their first appearance at the Nevada Theater. The number of seats already. sold ensures them a’good house. The company comes highly recommended and will no doubt fultill the expectations of all, Great success has attended them wherever they have been, and we predict that Nevada City will be no exception—in this respect, The comedy work of Messrs. Post.and “Murphy, and the singing of Miss Truly Shattuck, the beautiful vocalist, are only a portion of the strong attractions that are offered. BSS TES Tomorrow Evening. Twenty years ago, at the age of 18 years, [had swellings come on my legs, which broke and became running sores. Our family physician could do: me no good, and it was feared that the bones would be affected. At last, my good old Mother Urged Me to try Ayer’s Sarsaparilla. I took three bottles, the sores healed, and J have not been troubled since. Only the scars remain, and the memory of the past, to remind me of the good Ayer’s Sarsaparilla has done me, I nowweigh two hundred and twenty pounds, and am in the best of health. I have been on the road for, the past twelve years, have noticed Ayer’s Sarsaparilla advertised in all parts of the United States, and always take pleasure in telling what good it did for me.” Ayér’s Sarsaparilla Prepared vy Dr. J.C.
