« Mrs. Charlotte Tubbs of Caroline
county, says a Baltimore special to tha
Mo ning Journal, has driven her husband

babies, each weighing from three to five
pounds. Mr. Benjamin Tubbs would no
doubt have beeri delighted at tbis family
presentation but from the fact taat int
sixteen months ago his wife modo him
a Christinas present of her second pair of
twins. One year previous to that slie
gave birth to a son, and ten im5nths previous was the mother of twins. All the
twins and the quartette are yirls, and the
only boy was the single birth.
Nine children.in tive years.
This is the maternal record of Mrs.
Tubbs of Carstine county,
Nothing was thought of the rapid increase in Tubbs’ family until tie last
quadruple ad! tion, and now poor Tubus
is alinost beside himself. He could
scarcely support the five and does not . *

Good Breeding.
What the old money-changers and
money-lenders did with their defaulting
meinbers, says an English journal, society
ought to do to the ill-vred—to the people
who oppose you, and not for anyihing
approaching to a princip!e; who. contradict you flatly, and do not apoiozize when
they are proved in the wrong; who tell
you ho:ne traths of a ‘bilions complexion
and vinegar aspect; who repeat illnatured remarks made in their presence,
or repeated to them, making you feel
that you are scorned and despised you
know not why, and vilified without the
chance given you of self-justitication;
who abuse your known friends, and ascribe to them all the sins of the decalozue; who bftitally attack your known
prncviples in religion, -morals, po itics ;
who sneer at your cherished superst tions
and fall foul of your confessed Weak uess ;
who take the upper hand o: you generally, not counting your susceptibilities as
wortii the the traditional butt6n. Such
peuple as these—ani there are many of
them masquerading as ladies and g-nt] +
men of good position and irreprouchable
cred nt‘als—but, no:matter wnat tueir
lineage nor future, -they shonld ba
cashieréd; and society would be ali tha
sweeter and more wholesome for tne
want of them. Contrast these spiney
hedgehogs, these aggressive thorn-bust Ss,
these stinging mosquitoes ani rampinz
tarantulas with their opposites —the weilbred and geatle folk who never wounl
you, never tread on your corns nor offend your susceptibility in any way, aol
who carefully carry out of sight ail their
own private little flags which may be
your red rags. This is not -want of
courage, but it is goo! breeding.
