more, would never have been heard of, outside of-an exceedingly limited circle of acenough to utilize their friendship to the reporters. A notable example of this is the
ease of the little police judge whose name
that of any other person. From the stories
published about this little justice one would
imagine that for wit and learning he is unsurpassed. The fact is that the police reporters are responsibie for most of the wit
accredited to him, and that he is tar from
being icarned? The whole secret is that the
“judge” knows how to treat his friends
the reporters. Hundreds of instances might
be added to this. Again, how sorely reporters are misjudged. The popular idea is
that they are rather shabby, obtrusive and
unscrupulous fellows. This idea is changing, however, and people are beginning to
belicve that New York newspaper men inDistrict.
