A Committee Meeting. © The Republican County Central Committee met at this city this afterommendation for Postmaster for Grass Valley. The meeting was postponed until the 2d of November. Charged With Drunkenness. City Marshal Shearer thie afternoon arrested James Kelly for drunken and disorderly conduct on the streets and later entered a complaint in the Justice Court against him for the above offense. He was locked up in the city prison pending the time when his case will be heard. Quarantine Removed. the residence of F. W. Powell, on the corner of Broad and Cottage streets, this forenoon, atid removed the quarantine for chicken-pox from thé premises. The patients a recovAt the ‘Matinee. O., October 18—At the request of Chief Sullivan of San FranGieco, Ohief Langley yesterday arrested Bessie Vincent. aged 16, and Sadie Oook, aged 17,a8 they stepped from the steamer City of Puebla. The girls were in the company of Blanche Lewis, of Vancouver, but as they maintained that they did not leave San Francisco with her the police were anable to take action against the woman.
