EVERYBODY SHOULD ASSIST
THE PROMOTION COMMITTEE
NE of the greatest steps that Nevada County ever
took for the purpose of putting herself in the fropt
rank with numerous other progressive counties of
the State, and one that has been far reaching and effective in
accomplishing the results for which it was intended, was the
organization and formation of the Nevada County Promotion
Committee; which by the way, is composed of some of the
most capable and enterprising ¢itizens of the State. It is
conceded by all that no organized body of men ever done
more toward promoting and advancing the development of
our local resources and the general interests of this section
of the State, or has worked more harméniously and
successfully for our good and welfare, than the Nevada
County Promotion Committee. Therefore we are pleased to
note that the members of this organization are given unstinted credit and praise, which they are justly entitled to,
for their splendid work in the past.
The interest of this great county, with its wonderful
and almost limitless resources, should not be allowed to lag,
nor the interest in pushing the development of the same
grow lukewarm or cold, and there is little danger of such
a calamity or siege of “dry rot” getting a foothold in this
section if our people as a whole will continue to rally to the
support of our Promotion Committee, give them encouragement from time to time by endorsing their efforts, and refrain
from “knocking.” The tongue of the knocker is the worst
enemy that any Promotion Committee has to contend with,
and is not only discouraging, but has a terrible blighting effect upon any work of enterprise or advancement under way,
and, in short, a great hinderance. We are glad to state,
however, that our people have united to down this “knocking”
spirit so prevalent in many communities and have to such a
great measure been successful, for if there is any of these
pessimistic octupuses or “cusses” left in our community he
must have crawled into his hole and pulled his hole in after
him, as he has completely disappeared. For this relief the
Promotion Committee. has also labored zealously with the
general public and is entitled to credit.
It is therefore with extreme pleasure that we take cognizance of the fact that our local Promotion Committee have
again taken up active and aggressive work, after its wellearned summer vacation. A meeting of the Committee will
be held tonight at this city, when plans will be outlined and
formulated for carrying on the vast amount of enterprising
and beneficial work already decided on. New ideas and propositions will also be considered at this meeting, and it is
probable that this first session for the season of the Promotion Committee will be the most important yet held by the
organization. Let every member be on hand this evening,
and to those of our citizens who are not yet members of the
Promotion Committee we would advise them to attend this
initial meeting and enlist in the work.
Everybody should put their shoulder to the wheel and
help our Promotion Committee push along the car of Progress and Prosperity.” Now is your opportunity.
