Worthley, the Well known hotel keeper of Washington, is here spending a few dhys. Mra. Smith came down from Graniteville today and will leave tomorrow for the East. Chas, Paine returned thie morning to North San Juan after attending Court yesterday. H.H. Purdy came down from Downteville last evening and left this morning for San Franciseo, T. I. Barron was in this city yesterday, renewing old acquaintances. He now resides at Livermore, Mrs. Bemins of Redding, who has been here on a visit to Mrs. H. ©. Mills, returned home this morning. A. J. Wood came dcwn from North San Juan yesterday to attend a meeting of the Board of Supervisors. John Nancarrow returned yesterday to the railroad shops at Sacramento after a brief visit with his parents, F.S. Redding, who has been visiting relatives at Forest City, was here last evening on his way back to Auburn, M.Hurt and E, B. Rabb, who have deen in Sierra county on mining businese, returned last evening to Oakland. Mrs, James Ross, who has been here visiting with relatives left last evening for ber home at Sissiton, South Dakota, Mrs. Costa and Miss Costa arrived here last evening from San Francisco and left this morning for Downieville. Supervisor F. M. Pridgeon came ever from Lake City yesterday to attend a meeting of the Board of Supervisors, Charles MoGagan came down fron North Bloomfield this afternoon and will loave tomorrow morning for San Francisca, George Z. Waite and bride came over from Sau Juan last evening and left for Satramento, which city will be their home. Mre. Julia Miller and Mrs. Daniel of Butte City arrived bere last evening on ea visit to the former's sister, Mrs. George Allen. Rev. W. Angwin jeft this morning for Colfax to meet his wife, who is comtng from Oregori, They will retarn here this evening. Mre. Foote of Michigan, who has been here on a visit to Mrs H. C. Yeaterday afternoon Supervisor J. M. Buffington received the sad intelli-gence of the death of his nephew, Albert G. Gurnett, which occured yesterday morning at Oakland. The deceased was a native of California and aged 19 years. He had visited here on several occasions and made many friends among our people, who will be grieved to learned of his untimely death.
