PURIFY YOUR BLOOD,
Impz=rities in the bivod produce diseases,
Bodily and mental healih depend upon a
healiy condition of the biood. The blood,
particularly in the «pring and during the hot
summer months, becomes clogged with impurities, which poison it and generate disease, A harmless blood purifier, without a
particie of mineral po:son in it, such as mercury oF potash, is necessary to remove these
impuriiies und to restore the healthy tone of
mind and body, The best purifier and tonio
known tothe world is Swift's Specific (8.8.8)
in regard to fis wonderful purifying and
tonic powers we give a few testimouials as
follows: OLE Sake:
Mr. Wm. A. Siebold, with Geo, P. Rowell &
Co., 10 Spruce Steet, New York, writes March
to the facts herewith stated. In February
last I suffered great pain and inconvenience
from bolls, all over my neck; I could not turn
my head without acute pain and my blood
wasin poor condition. After trying all the
usual remedies in such cases, and finding ne
relief, by the persuasion of Mr. J. W. Fears,
Manager of your. New York Office, I used one
bottle 8. 8.-8, and I improved rapidly and
very soon I was entirely relieved of my—
“ Job's Comforters.” Now nota sign of my
efliciion can be seen. I feel strong and cheerful. 8.8, 8. isa fine tonic as proved in-my
case. I sleep soundly and my appetite is good.
Dr. J. N. Cheney, a well-known physician
writes from Ellaville, Georgia : “I use 8. 8. 8
in convalescent fever cases with the best results. It will, in my Judgment, prevent summer dysentety, if one will take a few bottles
in the sprin;, thus preparing the bowels for
the strains of summer.”
Mrs. Scott Liston, 116 Zane street (Island),
Wheeling, West Virginia, writes: “Having ©
used 8.8.8. for the biood, I can safely say
that it beats anything I have used to cleanse
the blood and make a new being out of a person.”
itr, M. 8. Hamlin, Wineton, N.C., writes;
“T use it every spring. It always builds me
up, giving me appetite and digestion, and
enabling me to stand the long, trying, ener

“MARKING THE CARDS.
”
Revelations Made by a Professional
Gambler.
“How do you mark a card?’’
“Kasy enough,” was his answer. “‘We
do it-in the same way that the blind man
reads—by the sense of feeling.
“*Before we can read these cards they
must be put in stiape. -This is done. with
a ring which is worn on the most convénent finger. On the inside of the ring+I
mean the part under the finger—is ahttle
steel spur, not sharp enongh to penetrate,
the cards and make a hole, which would’
be detected, but a slight indentation, resembling a pimple, on the back of the
card, but so small that with close observation it would not be noticed.
“This we cannot see, but we can feel it,
and the location ‘is the cipher to the denomination of the card.
“Of course we have to see and handle
the cards before they can be “marked,”
but as we can handle from five to ten
cards each deal it does not take long to
have all the important cards punctured.
Reading cards’ marked in this way: is
easy to me.
“T have one system as to the location of
marks, and it is just as simple as telling
the time by the location of the hands of a
clock in the absence of the regular dial
figures. Shayp players make their) punc‘. tures so slight that they cannot be detec-ted by the ordinary sense of feeling.
“The reading is then done with the ball
of the thumb, from which the outer
cuticle has been, removed by acid. The
nether skin is véry tender,-and readily
responds when it comes in contact with
the ‘mark.’
“Greeks of this lass can be detected by
watching the thumb of the right hand in
to.one that the dealer has
the blind to read.” cs aes
of holes, exclaimed, “Mend-I can’t.”
