That it shall be unlawful for any person or corporation doing business in this State to manufacture, sell or offer to sell any article, compound or preparation for the purpose of being used or which is intended to be used in the preparation of food, in which article, Gompound or prepara' “tion there is any ARSENIC, CALOMEL, BISMUTH, AMMONIA OR ALUM. i Sro,2. Any person or corporation violating the provisions of this act shall be deemed guilty of a misde-}. meanor and shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than one hundred dollars, which shall be paid into and become a part of the road fund of the county in which such fine is collected. The operation of this law will be maintained against alum baking powders. But the manufacture or sale of any article of food or. article intended to be used in food which contains any of the substances classed by the law as unhealthful—from Arsenic to Alum— is absolutely prohibited. Marriage of Elwell Holland. Elwell Holland, a brother of Mrs. W. F. Englebright of this city, and now residivg at Marshfield, Oregon, was married last Wednesday evening at that place to Miss Daisy Wickham of Ooquille.
