WHAT NEWSPAPERS SAY
Of the Candidacy of William Beck.
man,
William Beckman, present Railroad Commissioner from this district and candidate
fot re-election on the Republican ticket, has
made a faithful officer, : ’ *
He has endeavored to deal out even-handed
justice between the railroads and the people. —Amador Republiéan.
That old Demogratic war-horse,J. F,
Linthicum, in his paper, the Red. Blufi
News, says of the candidacy of Mr. Beck“If a Republican has to be elected
Railroad Commissioner from this district we
hope it will be William Beckman, No man
in business life stands higher in Sacramento
than he, and in all the social relations he is
agentleman. He is more of a business man
than a politician, and hence, while true t¢
his convictions, is liberal and broad-minded
toward his political opponents.”
We notice that all our exchanges speak in
the highest terms of William Beckman, Rebuhlican nominee tor Railroad Commissioner of this District. This office, like the
Judiciary, is one that should be filled by
the man best fitted for the position, regardless of polities, Such a man is William
Beckman and the honest voters of this. district should recognize his availability for the
very important place and not trust to irresponsible strangers to the questions which
are involved.— Willows Review.
William Beckman; Railroad Commissioner for this district and candidate for reelection was in Lakeport Saturday. He is
a very efficient man in his position and. has
inade a good Commissioner and should. be
re-elected by a large majority.—Lakeport
Avalanche. 5
William Beckman, the well-known banker
man:
of this city, aspires to the nomination of . Railroad Commiggioner from the First District, Mr. Beckinan has a great many. firm
friends and they are urging his claims to
the consideration of the party and his qualilications for the position. # * *
They realize that the office of Railroad Commissioner embodies one of the most. important public trusts and that to fill it demands
the possession-of.the-.qualities. of firmness
and an executive ability that.can handle-the
great questions involved in the business of
transactions. * * . Many, of
the papers in the district have extended
cordial endorsements to Mr. Beckman,
among them the Amador Dispatch, which
declares that he is popular-with Democrats
as well ds Republicans.—Sacramento Bee.
Hearing a conversation about the above
gentleman, we thought it best to say something about him. At. the last electién’ we
spoke in favor of ‘this géntleman; he was
elected, and we have not been disappointed
in.his..official._relations...He.has..worked
honestly and squarely for the people. *
7 * It is natural for Republican papers to speak well of their nominees, but
when opposition papers speak well of. Mr.
Beckman it proves that he is a good officer
and deserves re-election. —Corning Observer.
One thing about Mr, Beckman that should
recommend him to the public is that he has
a mind of his own and will use it in performing his duty.—Alpine Chronicle.

The Best Medicine.
J. O. Witson, Contractor and
Builder, Sulphur Springs, Texas,
thus speaks of Ayer’s Pills:
“ Ayer’s Pills are the best medicine I
ever tried; and, in my judgment, no
better general remedy could be devised.
I have used them in my family and
recommended them to my friends and
employes for more than twenty, years.
To my certain knowledge, many cases
of the following complaints have been
completely and
Permanently Cured
by the use of Ayer’s Pills alone: Third
day chills, dumb ague, bilious fever,
_ Sick headache, rheumatism, flux, dyspepsia, constipation, and hard colds. I
know that a moderate use of Ayer’s
Pills, continued for a few days or weeks,
as the nature of the complaint required,
would be found-an absolute cure for the
disorders I have named above.”
“T have been selling medicine for
eight years, and I can safely say that
Ayer’s Pills give better satisfaction
than any other Pill I ever sold.’—J. J.
Perry, Spottsylvania C. H., Va.
