During the presidential campaign of
1892 Senator Quay and Senator Elkins,
who were maiaging the Republican
interests, and ex-Senator Brice ‘and

to live at the same hotel and frequently dined together. One evening, as
they were sitting at the same table.
Mr. Brice looked over to Senator Quay
