Tt has been quite awhile since opefations
were suspended by this company, and the
resumption of work will be hailed with joy
by all the residents of French Corral and

Deafness Cannot Be Cured
By local applications, as they cannot
reach the diseased portion of the ear. There
is only one way*to cure Deafness, and that
is by constitutional remedies, . Deafness is
caused by an inflamed condition of the
mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube,
When this tube gets inflamed you have a
rumbling sound or imperfect hearing, and
when it is entirely closed Deafness is the
result, and unless the inflammation can be
taken out and this tube restored to its norforever; nine cases out of ten are caused by
condition of the mucous surfaces,
We will give One Hundred Dollars for
any case of Deafness (caused by catarrh)
that cannot be cured by Hall’s Catarrh

A Happy Gathering’ at the Home of D. B.
Morgan Last Evening.
Last night a very pleasant surprise party
was tendered to D. E. Morgan at his home
{on Main street, the occasion being his birthday, A merry crowd of friends assembled,
and the event was one of the most pleasant
that has occurred in social circles in this
city in along time. Whist was the chief
amusement, twenty-five games being played.
The first prizes were won by Ed J. Morgan
and Mrs. C. J. . Naffziger, the second prizes
by Cal R. Clarke and Mrs, George C. Gaylord. For the ‘booby prizes there was a tie
between Nat P. Brown and Mrs. F. T,
Nilon, who were partuers, and D. E, Morgan and Chas. H, Eddy, who were also
partners, An unsuccessful attempt was
made between the four above named. to
play off, to see who was’ entitled to the
booby prizes, but owing to the fact that
several ‘‘cold decks” were © fg in on the
innocent contestants, no décision could be
reached, see :
At the conclusjefi of the card playing a
fine collation was served, and from‘ that
till 2 o'clock or thereabouts the time was
spent in listening to delightful vocal music
reridered by Mrs, H. G. Parsons of Grass
Valley, and by instrumental mueic and
dancing. It was one of the jolliest crowds
that ever got together, aud the ‘evening’s
entertainment will long. be remembered by
all who had the pleasure of taking part in
it, and they wore all stars, theatrically
speaking, in their vatious roles. Mr. Morgan, together with his most estimable wile,
received the warmest congratulations. of
every one end also the sincerest wishes for
a long and happy life.

A Novel Sight,
A Cincinnati man describes a novel sight
he recently-saw at a mill devoted to making
paper of pine tree pulp, ‘‘Il was invited to
select a tree,” he says, ‘‘which I did, and it
was cut down for me in the morning. I.
watched it during the day undergoing the
various processes of paper making, and at 6
o’clock that evening the tree was paper.
At midnight a portion of it was sufficiently
dry to be taken to a printing office, and a
few of the copies of the next morning’s
paper were printed on this product.”’ From

Marvelous Results.
From 4 letter written by Rev. J. Cundernan, of Dimondale, Mich,, we are permitted
to make this extract: ‘1 have no hesitation
in recommending Dr, King’s New Discovery,
as the results were almost marvelous in the
case of my wife. While I was pastor of the
Baptist Church at Rives .Junctiow she was
brought down with Pneumonia succeeding
LaGrippe. Terrible paroxysms of coughing
would last hours with little interruption and
it seemed as if she could not survive them,
A friend recommended Dr, King’s NeW Discovery; it was quick in its work and highly
satisfactory in results.” ‘Trial bottles free
