hand you my annual report of the operations and condition of the Departmeut under my charge for the past fiscal year, from August 1, 1887, to Aumee unsgisa
Last Monday Frank Richards was
feeling around. overhead in his cabin
for some article when his hand came
in contact with a giant powder cap,
which exploded and took off one of
‘his fingers.
A petition has been circulated asking Governor Waterman to commute
the sentence of Ah Jake, who was
convicted in the Superior Court of
murder in the first degree, from hanging to life imprisonment.
It has recently been ascertained that
the Fire Department has not for several yearg past received its just proportion of the revenue derived from
city taxes owing to an incorrect”
apportionment. The Department is
under the law entitled to twenty cents
for each Hundred dollars worth of
property assessed. Last year, for instance, there was apportioned to the
fire fund only twenty per cent of the

Charles Morrow, who is now in
training at this place for a 100-yard

On Monday evening Miss Lizzie
