It has recently been ascertained that the Fire Department has not for several yearg past received its just proportion of the revenue derived from city taxes owing to an incorrect” apportionment. The Department is under the law entitled to twenty cents for each Hundred dollars worth of property assessed. Sukeforth, of Sacramento, ‘is in town. He expects. to return to the capital city tomorrow. R. Rosenthal and H. ©. Charles Morrow, who is now in training at this place for a 100-yard dash which he will run Mat Whelihan at the Nevada county fair this month for $250 a side, claims to be the champion ali around athlete north of Maryaville. ' Miss Nettie Curtis, of this city, who has been below for a few weeks visiting various points of interest, yeaterday went from San Francisco to Woodland to visit Mrs. Jas. R. Doolittle. te Jas. T.
