A Chinaman employed: about the mill at
the Providence mine had one of the fingers
of the right hand badly mashed Sunday by
getting 1t caught in a cogwheel.
A large amount of firewood «is piled up
near the reservoir at H, D. Towle’s place.
It belongs to diffefent wood men and has
been hauled there so as to. be handy to
town when.the stormy weather begins.
The road to Blue Tent is frightfully
rough in many places, where the heavy
freight and wood wagons have cut it up:
and it is the dustiest road in the State besides.
A saloon has been opened in a small
building at the foot of Sugar Loaf grade,
near Omer Tompkins’ place. A watering
trough has also been placed on the roadside.
The fire hydrant at the Union Hotel has
been moved out on a line with the sidewalk.
It was this work that necessitated turning
off the. water yesterday and this morning.
