P. B. Fitzsimoiis Says He Was
Railroaded to an Asylum.
Patrick Fitzsimmons, who formerly lived
at French Corral, and who was sent to the
Napa Insane Asylum something over a year
ago, has through his attorney made applica-—
tion to the Supreme Court for a writ of
habeas corpus, and the same has been
granted and was to be heard before Judge
Belcher at San: Francisco today. Fitzsimmons was interviewed Saturday by a Post
cock-and-bull story. Everybody up this
way knows that the statements made by
Fitzsimmons are false, Following is the
article published by the Post:
A case that looks suspiciously like railroading was before Judge Belcher today on
habeas corpus. It was that of P. B. Fitzsimmons, a Nevada county miner, who has
spent something over a year in the Insane
Asylum at Napa.
Fitzsimmons, who is a middle-aged, well
dressed, pleasant-spoken man, declares he
has been the victom of a conspiracy to deprive him of his liberty, so that valuable
water rights which he owns ‘will fall into

S. F. News Letter: Hennen Jennings, the
well-known mining engineer, who is retained by several powerful South African
companies, is in the city on a visit to his
relatives. Mr. Jennings has been very successful in South Africa, and his services are
highly estimated by the companies by which
he is employed. He is now engaged in
opening up the City and Suburban claim
which promises to become one of the most
productive mines in the country. As a token of esteem and in appreciation of Mr,
Jenning’s successful labor in their interests,
one company not long ago made Mrs. Jennings a present of a diamgnd necklace,
which is said to be one of the handsomest
collections of stones in the country. They
never do things by halves on their side of
the Atlantic. Mrs. Jennings, by the way,
is the daughter. of Mr. John Coleman of

esteemed mining men in the State,

THE BELLE OF FRANCE.
A Probability That a Sale Will Be
Made.
The Tidings says that for the ~past two
weeks parties representing capital have been
examing the Belle of France mine, situated
near the North Star mine, with a view of
purchasing tle same, A great many fire
and amalgamation assays were made from
the ore taken from acrose the lude and
proved very satisfactory, making an average of fourteen dpllars a ton. Some three
or four blasts were put in and the ore
showed ina depth of two feet an increase
of $2 per ton. An amalgamation aasay of
twelve pounds of the ore showed $16.50 per
ton, and the dirt and decomposed quartz
from the hanging wall gave a return of $23
per ton. . It is'now expected that the property will soon change hands, Walter W.
Byrne, who. is interested in the Belle of
France and extensions, received a letter
from Messrs. Lane & Hayward’s mining
expert saying that he would be here in a
few days to examine the mine for his
company. Monday six men will start to
work and run drifts and take out one hunGREAT VAS .
