THUMSBAY. <2 ae ek re oe September 24, 1903 5 Prominent Stockholders Here to inspect ihe Big Improvement Work Now — ~ In Progress There. Hon. John J. Meyers, one of the heaviest, most practical and reliable mining operators on the Coast, C. F, Humphrey Esq,, one of San Francisco’s most prominent and successful. lawyers, Benj. Goodwin of one of the largest. general insurance agencies at the Bay, and H. B. Thompson, an influential citizen of Victoria, British Columbia, arrived here this morning to make a careful inspection of the Property of the Murchie Consolidated Mining Company, which is located a short distance from this city. Mr. Goodwin is president of the company and Mr. Meyers treasurer. Our people feel proud to know that such distinguished gentlemen are interested in our mines, and more particularly pleased to know that they have taken hold of the largest and most valuable mining property in this part of the State: That the mines which they control will yield’ an immense amount of bullion when properly opened up, no one will gainsay, and under such first-class management it will prove not only tobe of great benefit to the stockholders, Nevada City, but to the county’s general prosperity as well. When the contemplated improvements to the property have been completed the mine will prove to be second to none on the Coast as a steady bullion producer, in extensiveness of operation and in the number of men employed. ‘ The work of building seven hundred feet of flume, and the cleaning out of the large water ditches which dre to be connected with it, is being pushed rapidly forward and will be completed within a short time. Yesterday the work ° of clearing the ground and grading for the-new mill was commenced. The lumber for the new mill building has all been ordered, a portion of it being delivered on the site today, and with the force of men now employed work is sure to go forward with the greatest rapidity until the building is completed, the machinery installed and in running order, and other projected improvements made. The new mill ordered by the company will be ready for shipment within the next ten days, and upon its arrival here will be transferred immedately to the mine and put together, as it is the intention of the company to have all these projected improvemients made and practically completed before the heaviest portion of the winter weather sets in. The new mill is of the very latest aud most approved pattern, and although it has only nine stamps it is so scientifically and wonderfully constructed and designed as to possess a capacity equal to any twenty-stamp mill of the old-style pattern. Development work in the mine is also progressing rapidly aud the ledge from which ore is now being extracted is six feet thick and is showing up grandly in quality. Already there is enough ore blocked out to keep the new mill running night and day for an indefinite period. ~While there are many ledges ‘tn the four hundred acres of patented land News . The Murvaluable ledges, and it is conceded by competent judges that when any number of these veins are being opened up that the company will find that instead of a mill of 20-stamp capacity being needed, one of 100 stamps or more will be required to crush the large output of ore from the mines. At present the Texas mill is running night and day, and will continue running on Murchie rock until the new mill at the mine is completed. The strongest evidence of the richness of the Murchie, as depth is attained, is the fact that each month since the company commenced taking out ore the shipment of bullion has largely increased in value over that of the previous month, proving conclusively that the ore is increasing in richness as depth is reached. One of the most gratifying features relative to the opening up of this great mining property is the fact that it is in the hands of large capitalists and men of the highest stand ing who have enterprise and means to open up and develop the Murchie on an extensive and permanenf scale, thus bringing it into the front rank with the great mines of California. Besides, the business affairs of the mine’ are conducted in a manner that inspires confidence and stamps those honesty and integrity. Therefore every stockholder can feel confident that all the affairs connected with the operating of this vast property could not be handled more judiciously than by the capable gentlemen who have charge of it. It can be truthfully said the present and future outlook for the Murchie is the most brilliant and satisfactory of any mine in this district, and we feel confident that in a short time it will prove to be the richest gold-producing property on the Pacific Coast, kind for school children, ani run in Aake That a woman will wear things that sizes suitable for ages from two to fourteen years. ject which the new advertisement of Fred Eilerman tn this evening’s TranSORIPT speaks about. right. and -it is cool and refresbing.
