THE SCOTT ELECTRIC LAMP CO.
An Enterprise in Which Former Nevada C'tyans Are Interested.
The Scott Electric Lamp Company was
incorporated in New York on the 18th of
last August, with a capital stock of $25,000.
Mrs. E. C. Huntington, formerly of this
city, is one! of the principal stockholders,
and her brothers, Palmer Brown and Edward M, Brown, both well known in this
city, are members of the Board of Directors.
T .e new company succeeds to the business
of the Scott Electric Manufacturing Company.
This company are manufacturers of arc
lamps, among their specialties being the
«‘Huntington” Search Light, focusing lamps
for photo-engraving, electro-calcium tor
theatrical use, multiple series and series for
low tension aod high ‘tension currents.
Chief among these is the ‘‘Huntington”
Search Light, of which this company were
the pioveers io placing this description of
arc lamps before the public, These lamps
aré “covered by patents dated December,
1884; April and September, 1891; “April;
1892, and February, 1894. The Huntington Search Light is especially for use on
steamboats and other navigable crafts, and
is entirely under the control of the pilot. It
requires’no attention, and can be turned
into any position so as to throw its rays
wherever desired, cither vertical or horizontal. No.1 is made. of polished brass
and copper trimmed, designed for position
on top of a pilot house. No. 2 has an iron
cylinder and is trimmed with copper, and
can be placed forward of the pilot house’ or
on deck: —Its automatie—feed-lamwnp-—feeuses
in any position, and it can swing around im
a circle or be fixed in any one position, No,'
3 isan entire nevelty, just placed on sale,
and is adapted for small pleastire yachts
and others. It is made on the same principles as Nos, 1 and 2, exept that oil, is
substituted for electricity. The beam from
this lamp can be thrown over 500 feet clear
and. distinct, and-is movable, as is the
others. It isa valuable addition to small
sailing craft, for it enables the vesse] to be
seen at a greater distance than any ‘other
light that can be carried on a small’ yacht
or pleasure boat.
' Regarding the No, 1 Huntington Search
Light, the -ew York Sun says, under date
of February 25, 1890: :
“The electric search light with which
_Mr. Dwight Wyman has been astonishing the natives of Staten Island was operating . .
ia all its glory last nightat the St. George
Station, of which Mr. Wyman is Superin-tendent,The-fog that shrouded.the island }was so thick that the ordimary arc and incandescent lamps that illuminated the St.
George ferry slip faded out of sight when
the beats were only a few lengths away.
It was just the sort of a night to show the
advantages of concentrating the rays of an
arc light into what may be called a single
beam. When the light was pointed. vertically into the fog, it was seen at its best
advantage. The loom ofthe light rose to
an incredible distance. It was plainly visible at many times the distance at which a
plain arc light eould be seen,
**Its power of penetrating the fog when
directed horizontally was also shown, The
beam of light made objects plainly visible
at a distance of a thousand feet at least, so
that a boat could easily have been sent to
pick up a man in the water and be sure of
finding him.
**The search light weighs but 130 pounds,
It occupies a deck space two feet square.
It was manufactured by the Scott Electrical Manufacturing ‘Co., and is known as
the Huntington Search Light,”

from head to foot with a red and exceedingly troublesome rash, from which

in spite of the best medical treatment
available. Her father was in great
recommendation, at last began to administer Ayer’s Sarsaparilla, two bottles of which effected a complete cure,
much to her relief and -her father’s
