that place, has been filed for probate.
The petitioners are Della M. Booth and
David Shoemaker. The estate, val: :

wounded men who claim that they were suddenly attacked
by men who knocked them down, : giving them a general
beating. They managed to regain their feet when they were
backed against the building, the policemen opening fire with
their revolvers. The two men fell and the crowd immediately fled. Both officers immediately reported the affair to

Steel Bridge.
The Street Oommittee of the City
Board of Trustees held a special meeting this afternoon, Ohairman Rogers
presiding. The matter of strengthenthe steel bridge which spans Deer Oreek
at the foot of Broad street was taken
up and discussed.
Superintendent G. H. Fairchild of
the Nevada County Traction appeared
before the Committee and stated that
bis company was now ready to fulfill
its part of the contract in relation to
the bridge as set forth in Section 9 of
the franchise granted by the City
Trustees.
Trustee Peard made a motion that
the bridge be strengthened for general
traffic and sufficiently to bear the
weight of the Traction Company’s electric cars. Trustee Eustis seconded
the motion but it was lost upon ballot,
Trustee Peard voting “aye” and Trus‘tees Rogers and Eustie;voting “no.”
