Sims to Deliver a Discourse Yext Sunday Wight. On Sunday evening next, at the Congregational church, Rev. J. Sime will deliver a discourse on the life and death of our lamented President, Wm. Kinley. This special service of sermon, prayer. and song will be given under ‘the auspices of the Improved Order of Red Men, who will be present and assist in the ceremonies, and a number of members of the order will be present from Grass Valley to assist. Rev. Sims is well qualified to speak on the life’s work and character of the grand and noble President, and coming recently from the East and vicinity of the national tragedy his remarks concerning the last days of President Wm. Power, one of the largest owners and euperintendent of Hidden Treasure mine at Forest Hill, Placer county, arrived here last evening to attend a meeting of the Knights Templar. Mr. Power was a delegate to the last National Republican Oonvention which re-nominated the late Wm. McKinley for President. He was also selected as a State Presidential Elector at the last election. Mr. Power has been talked of for Governor, and if Northern Oalifornie should ever be fortanate enough to be called upon to name a man for that position Harold T. Power would be their choice, Thomas Coan left last evening for the scene of his mining operations ‘Over in the State of Nevada. Mr. Coan has been kept busy of late in arranging matters to start up the mine which he has in charge, and he ie anxious to begin operations. The property to be opened up is at a place known as Green Hill. Mr. Coan is determined to put the mine on a good paying basis in a short time, and will rush the work ahead.
