DEATH OF BILLY WYMLIAMS,
A Former Resident of This City Dies in
the Reno Insane Asylum.
William Williams, fie a number of years
a resident of this city, died in athe Insane
Asylum at Reno, Nevada, on Wednesday
last, and was buried at Reno on Thursday,
** Billy,” as he was generally called, will be
remembered by many of our people. He
was a miner by occupation and while living
here stopped at the New York Hotel. He
went.to Virginia City ten or twelve years
ago and was employed for quite awhile in
the Chollar mine, After saving a few
thousand dollars from his earnings he.-left
the Comstock in search of a place to locate
and engage in some kind of business. He
went to Grass Valley, where he-bought a
saloon, but the venture proved a failure and
he sold out at quite a toss and came to this
city, and opened a saloon on Broad street,
in the building now occupied by the City
Hotel. He run the place a couple of weeks
and then quit, From that time on he manifested signs of mental derangeinent,—and
was finally taken to the asylum at Reno,
Deceased was an industrious, steady man,
up to the time he went into the saloon
business, after which we understand he got
into the drinking habit, his poor success in
business doubtless causing him. to indulge
too freely. His sad fate is regretted by
all his f.iands in this county. He was a
native of England, aged about thirty-eight
years. Deceased wasa member of the subordinate lodge of Odd Fellows and also of
the Encampment.
