Deafness Cannot be Cured
by local applications as they cannot
reach the disease portion of the ear.
There is only one way to cure deafness,
and that is by constitational remedies.
Yeafness is caused by an inflamed condition of the: mucous lining of the Eusttachian Tabe. When this tube is inflamed you havea rumbling sound or
imperfect hearing, and when it is entirely closed, Deafness is the result,
and unless the inflamination can be
taken out and this tabe restored to its
normal condition, hearing will be destroyed_forever;nine cases out of ten
are caused by Catarrh, which is nothing .
but an inflamed condition of yee mucous surface.

MAY NANNARY’S LUCK,
The Pretty Nevada City Fayorits Comes
Near Getting Drowned.
Daring the last engagement of Miss.
‘Nannary, the Dailey company’s star, in
Stockton she came very near losing her
life, and had it, not been for the timely
assistance of one of the members of the
company she would have drowned. The
company had been hard at work all day
rehearsing ® production of “Queena.”
After the rehearsal the players were
inyited to the baths to take a swim.
One of the actors was an aquatic expert
of the old school, and was giving the
members of the company an exhibition
from the straps when suddenly the rope
broke and down came the gymnastic
thespian right on top of Miss Nannary.
As soon as he came to the surface of
the water he saw that Mise Nannary
was in distress and at onte swam to
her rescue. He caught ber by the.
hair just as sie sank for the last time.

‘Hood’s Sarsaparilia.
“The grip lett my system in a very
week state. I had fallen off in weight
from 140 to 119 pounds. I called on my
doctor to give me something to build me
up. He advised me to try a change of
climate and also gave me Hood’s Sarsaparilla, with the remark, ‘that is the best,’
and that I would not need any other medicine. After I had taken the first bottle
i found myself greatly improved. I proeured another bottle and also a box of
Hood’s Pills and I wes soon perfectly well.
I have since taken Hood’s Sarsaparilia asa
tonic and blood medicine and havealways
found it good. My husband and little
daughter have also taken it with benefit.
I have found Hood’s Pills an excellent
