Oar oitlzens are noted for their liberality in every just appeal that is made for sid, and it behooves them to hold their good reputation in the present instance. : In the city by the Golden Gate a noble band of wage-owners is battling for a cause that must naturally come home to every lover of right and justice. The strikers are only asking that they be granted what is fair and just, ahd the impending issue hinges, so to speak, right here. All through the strike the workingmen have mainutained excellent decorum, not one overt’ act being made on their part. This bas strengthened their cause greatly and’ won much admiration in every walk of life. As a matter of course, in a city like San Francisco when the condition of aftaire is unsettled minor infractions of the law are bound to occur. Whatever has taken place in that regard there can not be justly attributed to the strikers, when considered asa body. They are making a manly fight for their rights, and pradence and good judgment have marked their coursa from the start. The local movement to assist the good cause is in the hands of men who compensation. They stand for unionism and the protection of.the rights of every workingmap, be he skilled in the trades or otherwise.
