It was, of eourse, the work of strikers. This puts the public ban still more definitely upon labor strikes. It is intolerable that property should be destroyed, traffic interrupted and lives endangered by such outlawry. Itis to be noted that every considerable strike of the-year has failed. Good ore is being taken out of the Kentucky Ridge mine down on Deer creek near Kentucky Flat. There is a tunnel on the claim about four hundred feet long, out of which some $35,000 has been taken in years past. At present another tunnel is being run on a vein about six inches in thickness and it is expected to strike the main ledge at about forty-five feet, and which, judging from the ore that is being taken out, is undoubtedly rich. Thus far the mine has been paying expenses by the hand mortar process. Smith, John Castine and the Kendrick brothers are quite enthusiastic and believe that with a little more devel. opment their mine will be a dividendpayer. Jewish Holiday.
