The Ridge Road. Garden club
met last night at the home of
Mrs. Louis Hartman, with members’ husbands as guests. Forest
Supervisor Guerdon Ellis was the

Grand Patriarch Here
For IOOF Encampment
Grand Patriarch Roy McGan,
Salinas, of the grand encampment of California I O. O. F.
> made his official visit to Mistletoe Encampment here Monday
evening in the Odd Fellows hall.
About 75 members of the local
encampment, local lodge and Rebekahs were present.
With Chief Patriarch Al Brass
in the Miners hopsital for an appendectomy, Past Chief Patriarch
Charles Worthley presided.

Rev. Walker M. Gage has presented his resignation as rector
of St. Peter’s church, Red Bluff,
to take effect Saturday. Rev.
and Mrs. Gage had been at Red
Bluff for 15 years, Previously at
Chico, and before that for a
number of years at Trinity.
GREAT GRANDMOTHER
Mrs. Fannie Eden became a
great grandmother when her
granddaughter, Mrs. Robert
O’Harra, of Medford, Ore., gave
birth to a girl. Mrs. O’Harra is
the former Marjorie Jean Lutz,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto
Lutz, former Nevada City residents.
MOVING TO OAKLAND
Dan Treanor, who will be 79
next May 13, will move to Oakland Sunday to make his home
with a daughter, Mrs. Ed Gleastburg. He was born near Shady
creek and followed the hard work
of sawmills and timber all his
life.

word her daughter, Madeline, has
been transferred from the New
York office of Life: magazine to
the San Francisco office.

Robert M. ‘‘Bob’’ Wasley, son

completing his second year of a
three-year enlistment. Bob telephoned his parents Monday night
from San Diego. He said he had
been asSigned to a navy base in
Rhode Island where he expected
to remain for the balance of his

of Union Hill school, who was
married Easter Sunday.
Walter A. Carlson, county superintendent of schools, spoke on
emergency credentials. He stated
emergency credentials this year
will become more difficult to
obtain and to renew. They will
be granted only when every effort has been made to first obtain available state certified
teachers and all emergency teachers must be finger-printed, loyalty checked and submit an oath of
loyalty and allegiance to the
United States.
He presented the members of
his staff, David Dalke and Earl
Lee Ross, general supervisors,
and county health nurse, Vivian
