not issuing a walk.
Kosinski, with two doubles, got
the only long hits of the game.

WOLF & ROYER
TILT SATURDAY
Marvin Haddy, manager of the
Nevada City representative in the
Placer-Nevada league, © protested
interference on the part-of Neves,
umpire, in the second inning of the
Saturday night game in Roseville
ang the local entry played the rest
of the game under protest. Final
. score was 21-6 in favor of Roseville.
The Wolf & Royer sluggers
combed ‘‘Babe’’ Perry for 13 hits
during the six innings he pitched,
and gathered two more off Moreno,
relief hurler.
The local boys scored more runs
against Wolf & Royer than any
other team so far this season but
were unable to prevent the Roseville men from scoring.
Playing“under the lights for the
first time added to the disadvantage to the local team caused by
being shorthanded and having but
nine men in uniform at game time.
Clark, the first batter flied to
Kosinski in, right but the big fielder misjudged the ball an@ Clark
had a triple. Carbone and Jensen
walked. In a hole Perry bore down
and McNulty fouled out. Disen
forced Jensen at second while
Clark — scored. Moreno’ dropped
Truscott’s fly and Carbone scored.
Moreno recovered the ball, whipped
it in and Disen was out trying to
score on the error play. Roseville
had a 2-0 lead.
In the second Roberts was safe
on Goldsberry’s bad throw and
Hartman singled him home. Clark
singled and Jensen doubled home
Hartman. Perry hit McNulty to
load the bags. Disen was called
safe at first on a close play’ by
Umpire Errecart. Attempting to
nip Jensen at third Childer’s throw
to third was wide and it was at
that point Neves was in Goldsberry’s way trying to field the
ball. The bases were cleaned and
Roseville was ahead 8-0.
Haddy immediately protested
and the rest of the game was
played under protest.
After that the game degenerated
into a brawl between players, predominantly Nevada City, and umpires with Umpire Gallagher taking plenty of abuse from. both
teams On the caliber of his strike
and ball calling.
Roseville had six earned runs
