Being old stuff for the Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores, it was all very new and strange to the Freshmen. There was a short assembly in the morning, with just short classes afterwards which only lasted till noon then school was dismissed. But it was different Tuesday— It was a full day. However; the real work didn’t start till Wednesday. At the assembly Monday Principal E. A. Then the Freshmen heard some very bad news, that initiation would be held Friday. Frantz also announced that the first national assembly would be this Monday. The boys all started football} Tuesday. The first scrimmage was held Wednesday, headed by Coach Douglas Watt. The first game is to be a week from today. However, the girls didn’t start anything in the way of physical education till Wednesday. Veteran-students who acquire dependents or additional dependents while.in training under the GI bill should notify Veterans administration as soon as possible so that VA can determine whether they are eligible for increased subsistence payments. Notice of change in dependency status should be sent to the VA regional office in which the veterans’ records are kept. The noevidence -of dependents, such as a certified copy of public record of birth, pabtism or marriage Subsistence payments will. be increased as of the date legal evidence is received by VA, and will not be made retroactive to the date the veteran actually acquired the dependent. Monthly subsistence allowances for veterans studying full-time in school are $75 for those without dependents, $105 for those. with one dependent, and $120 for those with, more than one dependent. Any veteran whos: eligibility for GI bill education runs out after he completes at least half of a school semester which is normal in cost may complete the . k remainder of the semester at government expense, veterans administration said. The veteran also will receive subsistence allowances for the remainder of the semester. Veterans studying under the GI bill who want to transfer to . another school at the end of the}, winter semester shoul: veterans administration at least; 30 days before make the change. To enroll in a new school, VA said, a student-veteran musi have a supplemental certificate of eligibility. He als» must have a statement from his present school showing his progress there has been satisfactory. A veteran may obtain a suvplementai certificate of eitgibility by applying to the VA regional office where his records are on file. Requests for Lids are being published in this issue of Vite Nugget. Principal Lloyd Geist requested the project to provide a more desirable playing area for the school children. The board plans to dispose of the district’s ll-year old bus. Construction of an addition to the high school garage and _ installation of showers in the elementary school building were tabled until another budget year.
