Federation of Women’s. Clubs. Meets Sept. 29 The first © EP convention “meeting of the year of the TriCounty Federation of Women’s clubs, will be Thursday, Sept. 29. The meeting, held at Homewood, Lake Tahoe, will be called to order at 10 a.m. by Presiding Officer, Mrs. Byron E. Brock, Nevada City, president of the TriCounty federation. Guests of honor will be Mrs. Jay T. Cooper, state president of the California Federation § of Women’s clubs, and Mrs. E. K. Lange, president of the Northern District federation. Mrs. Cooper resides in San Francisco. She has been an active club woman, as club president, county president, San Francisco district president, state chairman, state vice president, and state treasurer. She will speak about federation plans and projects. Mrs. Lange, Colusa, has also been active in club work as club and county fresident and state secretary. She was state chairman of education and northern district chairman of health and nutrition last year. Other northern district officérs and chairmen to be. present are Mrs. A. M. Swanson, Mrs. P..G. Friday, Mrs. A. L. Amstalden, Mrs. Don L. Bass, Mrs. Chester H. Preston and Mrs. May Raddue. Many past presidents of the TriCounty federation. will also be present. _ Reports will be given’ by all new ofifcers and chairmen of the Tri-County and by all club president, relative to their plans for the coming year. All federation members are urged to. be present. The Grass Valley Women’s’ Improvement club and the Nevada City Women’s Civic club are federated clubs. Members of these clubs are urged to make their luncheon reservations through their club presidents, now. $91,818 ASKED AS DAMAGES IN TRUCK CRASH AFTERMATH Damages totaling $91,818 are asked by Mr. ‘and Mrs. Samuel Zimmerman, Oakland, as a result of asserted permanent injuries in a two-truck crash near Truckee Friday, Aug. 5. The suit, filed in superior court here Tuesday, alleges that. Harold A. Gilson, driver of a TruckeeTahoe Lumber company truck, carelessly crashed the truck into the rear of a light pickup in which. the Zimmermans were riding, forcing it into a ditch. The suit asks $50,000 for Zimmerman for permanent chest injuries. and $41,818 for her husband who claims permanent spinal injuries. Church Dedication Is Set for Sunday The newly completed St. Anthony’s Catholic church in Challenge will be dedicated Sunday with the Most Rev. Hugh Donohue, assistant bishop of San Francisco, officiating. Bishop Donohue will celebrate mass in North San Juan Sunday at 8 a.m. After mass he will drive to Challenge with Father Gabrielle, who will celebrate high mass after ‘the blessing of the church by Rev. Donohue, who will deliver the sermon and conduct the benediction of the blessed sacrament. The Downieville choir will assist.
