They will INCREASE IN HOME CONSTRUCTIONS IS PREDICTED IN 1940 SACRAMENTO, Cal., April i (UP)—A 10 per cent increase in private home construction operations . during 1939 is predicted for 1940 by Real Estate Commissioner Clarence Urban. Every major branch of real estate improvement will share in the expected upswing in business, Urban said. He listed among favorable factors the leveling off of building material prices which occurred when the European war started last year. Guy Tabler was hostess to the Chat“T once wrote a chapter for a book on motion pictures making. My contribution was supposed to be on the acting end: How to prepare for a role. 1 worked hard on that chapter. My eonclusion then and now is that the imagination must be vivid, in the acting field. “T received a lot of kidding from my friends on that bit of writing but it’s still the truth as I see it.”’ Miss Davis cites the example of her current role of the governess in Rachel ‘Field’s story, ‘‘All This and Heaven Too’’ as one which was created by the writer almost living the role as she developed the story and which requires the actress playing . the part to do the same, “Practically all I had to do was to read the book to be able to project myself into the character who be;came involved in one of Europe’s . most sensational murder inysteries lof the middle 1800’s. Some parts, Miss Davis said, required a great deal of thought and study as well as the ability to project herself into the place of the character she is playing. The ‘best example was her role in ‘‘Dark Victory’ which could have become maudlin but which was a dramatic triumph because she did not overplay it. “T forgot how Bette Davis would act in those circumstances and tried to think out how my character would do it. It was that simple Just a case of pretending.”’ CAMPTONVILLE NOTES CAMPTONVILLE, April 11.—L. L. Bishop made a trip to Nevada. ’ "City Sunday to visit his mother Mrs. John C.
