MONDAY, APRIL 15, 1929 THE NEVADA CITY eat Wig-oteratd ————— NuGGei THE . Durbin Trevithick . Lobdell Ghidotti DURBINS LEAP INTO. BOWLING TOP NOTCH By taking four points from the Ghidotti’s Monday night, the fast eeming Durbins leaped into first place in the Eik’s bowling league by a wide margin and naw look to be headed for topnotch honors if they can break even for the last tw ‘ weeks of the race. Every member of the Durbins averaged better than 147. for the three games which shows whet the Ghidotti’s were up against. The only consolation for the rest of the teams in the. league is that the plumbers have the two toughest teams to run up against this and next week and who may clip their wings somewhat. The Ghoditti’s showed but little of their early season form in their encounter and but four. of their games went over tht 150 mark, and they would have been tasy marks for a Class C team with their miserable showing. The Trevithicks by taking three from the Penrose league of nations went into second place and the Lobdells by annexing three from the Leiters are in third, leaving the Leiters in fifth and Penrose in sixth. Both the latter teams have a chance to shove’ the sinking Ghidoiti’s into the cellar this and next week. ; The outstanding work week ‘was by Tamblyn’ who shot two sensational games of 199 and 190. He shot a 213. game for practice prior to the league games which he should have saved as it would have given topnoteh individual topnotch individual totals for the season. His 536 total is one—of the high ones of the season however and puts him in second place in individual] standing with an: average of 157. Bigelow was hot. on his trail however, and brought his average up to 156 for third honors. . Curnow was unable to get under'. was early enough but he brought his average to 154 for fourth place in the standings. Pierce with 155 is in fifth. Bigelow with 42 spares is in top place in that department with Dave Riehards and Pierce close behind him with 39 and» Tamblyn with 338 is pressing them. There is but little competition in the strike section although Carter by some work brought his’ total up to Sl for second place. He started out excellently in his second game with: five strikes for a starter with his center alley ball but his last five frames were not up to regulation. } His total of 516 pins brought his average up to the select 150 class Doubles—Tamblyn, Fouyer, Bige low, Penrose 2, Celio, Walling 2 Trevithick, Kopp, Ghidotti, Wil loughby, Hoge, Breese, Durbin Hogan 3, D.
