PUBLIC LANDS HEARINGS
On May 19th and 20th the people
of Mono and Inyo counties will have
an opportunity to tell the Public
Lands Committee of the House what
they think about the activities of the
City of Los Angeles in that area. The
committee has set aside those days
to hold hearings on the. bill which I
introduced repealing the act which
would permit the city of Los Anga.es to buy some of the best recreational area, grazing. and mining
lands in California for $1.25 per
acre. It is expected the City of Los
Angeles will have strong represen!ation present to oppose this legislation. :
The latter part of the same week,
May 21, 22 and 23 the committee
will hear witniesses on the general
bills to reimburse county governments for tax losses due to federal
owaershin. I have introduced two of
these measures and have requested
the hearings. This legislation is 07
