SULLIVAN FRENCH CORRAL, April ~25— This day dawned with the promise of rain, but only a light shower was given to this section. While a cold south wind prevaled all day, it closed with beautiful stnshine. Mr. Adams; piano tuner from Grass Valley made a business trip through this section Wednesday. Mr. J. Swazy moved his fainily from Nevada City to French Corral, Thursday As it was near the birthday of two members of the family. They celebrated their beginning of housekeeping with a birthday dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Leedlay and their daughter Virginia were guests. Mrs. Annie Browning and Mrs. A. Broosing went to Nevada City Thursday evening to,be with their friends, Mts. H. Young whose’ husband passed away at that’ place Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Culver made a trip to Grass Valley Thursday. Mrs Culver.remained to visit with friends and attend the meeting of O. E.'S. Accompanied by Mrs. E. Schwartz, She returned to French Corral Sunday. Mr. Stockdell and daughter Adalin and Mr. James Huntly of Sacramento came to French Corral Friday evening and will remain here for some time. Mrs. Stockdell. will join them later. RALPH PENROSE NORTH BLOOMFIELD, April 26. —Mr. Clark of Los Angeles was in North Bloomfield yesterday, looking over the Alta mine, which is located about eight miles above North Bloomfield. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Hudley were in Nevada City yesterday to the funeral of Mrs. Dudley’s cousin, the late John Curnow. Mr. and Mrs. Charley Gano were visitors in Nevada City yesterday. The cars can now come out of Graniteville by using detours. They have to go through the woods, as the road is not entirely open yet. Mr. S. C. Bevins was a visitor in Nevada City last week. He went down for a medical treatment. Mr. L. Luther was a Monday visitor to his lower ranch: He took a bunch of cattle down. Mr. Joe Blake was in Bloomfield Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Foote returned to North Bloomfield last Friday. Mr. Foot is a fire guard for the Forest Service. Mrs. Wendell Kallenburg returned home from Stockton last Thursday. She was visiting a sister there. Mrs. Alice Newton and daughter Margaret went to Sacramento last Saturday. They expect-to return this week. : Mr. E. B. Dudley of North Bloomfield is building a new garage back of his house. He is also making a few other improvements around his home. Mr. Phil Cummins was a visitor in Nevada City yesterday. Mrs. Jack Miller gave a birthday party for her little girl, Jackalina, last Monday. Refreshments were sandwiches, cake and fruit punch. A very nice time was had by all. She was one year old.
