He stated the season is six weeks too far advanced due to Jack of. rains. A monitor is being used by HE. A. McKenna on the Wehrle jproperty at Howland Flat. He will get out some gravel before water gets too low. This mine is near Downieville. Henness Rolls is operating the Riverside gravel mine near Downieville. Water is being taken from Jim Crow canyon and there is a good supply for an excellent season of hydraulic operations. The Reed. Mining Company is operating the Pride ‘Mine near Sierra City. While it will ‘be a short season of water due to lack of rainfall the company has done a great deal of development work. Water is being taken from Deer Creek which is usually a good stream ifor mine operations. Lewis F. Johnson has started work on the Caledonia property ‘which ‘is din the St. Louis district not far from Downieville. This is an old property and holds good promise of making a rich gold producer.
