YOUTHFUL COOLNESS
A checked cotton featuring brown, yellow and orange fashions the
engagingly simple frock of the girl at the left, who is still definitely sub-deb.
A circular flounce is placed rather low, after the fashion of an older mode,
and cool-looking yellow lawn ruffles trim the oval neck and kimono sleeves.
Her young sister looks as cool as a cucumber in a dimity frock, printed
in-adorable pastel colors. The frock is gathered under the arms, slashed
and buttoned in back, and topped by a capelet—marvelous _ acaul: iticn
which is stitched down in a small inv erted V V in front end 4

FRANK MERRIAM FOR
The Nugget is for Frank F. Merriam for Lieutenant Governor. And
every voter in Placer, Nevada and the
other mining counties should likewis be for him. Not because he is
chairman of the State Republican
Central Cmmittee; not because he
hails from Long Beach; and not particularly because he voted the Seawell hydraulic mining bill out of
the Senate Finance Committee at the
last session of the legislature; but

because of his fairness. Jerry Seawell needed just one vote to get his
bill on the floor of the senate, so
that it could be argued and debataed
on. its merits. It showed that Frank
Merriam was a fair man; an honest,
conscientious legislator. Elbert
AdamsAdams did the same thing in
the Assembly and the miners, and
those in sympathy with the mining
peause, should never forget these two
“men. More than that, Frank Merriam
deserves the vote and support and
good will of all those who velieve in
fairness, whether they are in favor
of hydrauli mining or not.
Let’s remember Frank ~— Merriam
and give him our vote at the August
Primary.
Seawell for Merriam
Assemblyman Jerry Seawell is
strong for Frank Merriam. When
asked the question the. other day,
Seawell said: “‘Yes, I am for Frank
Merriam for Lieutenant Governor,
and I am going to do all I an. I believe in voting for your friends.’ ’
