number of mining claims from
Harry D. Ramsay, the Royal Development Company, which is operating the Royal Mine at Hodson in

county field on a large seale. The
properties taken over are located in
the Meadow Lake district about

The properties affected in the
transfer from Ramsay are the

and .2, located on the south side of
Old’ Man Mountain. There is also a
river mill site at the base of the
mountain: Most of the, claims are
locations with the assessment work
fully done on them.
It is the intention of the company to erect a.100 ton selective
flotation concentration plant on the
property as the first unit of a 1060
ton plant to he built at a later date,

the Number 3 tunnel will average
around $17.00 per ton, of which
this tunnel has at the present time
nbout 800 feet of backs. The concentrates from the preliminary tests
by the Pan American Engineering
Corporation showed 6.72 ounces
gold, 22.08 ounees. of silver and
23.4 per cent copper. <
The officers:of the Royal are
well known in the mining industry.
H. E. White of Chicago is president. Fletcher Hamilton for ten

it will take much distance to cut
the ledge which is the objective of
the present work. With the ledge
reached, a station will be cut and a

workings and preparations made for
the extraction of ore as with the
large amount of backs opened up
there is plenty of ore in sight for
steady milling for months to come.
Several of the company stockholders were at the property the past

The ore encountered is of the

The property is equipped with a

In an interview granted The
Nugget today, Congressman Harry
L. Englebright envisioned the return of gold mining in the next few
of its early glory from an industrial standpoint, that is, in the point
eclipsing anything at present undertaken. Legislation enabling the return of placer mining under proper
safeguards enacted within the aoe
few years by both state and federal '
governments would be of inestimable help in bringing some of this
activity intobeing. .
“From what I have learned since
my recent return from Washington the past month’’, stated
Mr. Englebright, ‘it looks to me

$130,000 for the geological survey
which will be used in mapping the
gold regions of California which
will prove of inestimiable service to
the industry. Another appropriation
secured was $30,000 for the printing of literature on the Mother Lode
and Alleghany districts and which
has been meeting a larve demand
from mining capital over the United
States. For the Bureau of Mines I
secured an appropriation of $125

methods and costs of operations
which should pruve o7 great deuefit

“These increased appropriations
are bound to be very helpful to
the gold mining industry in view of
the fact that none such have. deen

of operations isan entirely new
study for the bureau of mines and
will open up a large field for research work. These appropriations
shows that what has been aceomplished the past. year in bringing
to the attention of Congress the
needs of the gold mining industry.
Hundreds of millions of dollars
have been spent on behalf of othe:

dustry has been allowed to languish
because no organized effort had been
