BOOKS LOANED ~INJULY 1.754 Mrs. \Iva Williamson, city librarian, has submitted the following report to the board of library tees for July: Number of volumes in the library 9639 and of these 1754 were borrowed for home uses— fiction 1289, \juvenile 381, biography 17, history and travel 28, poetry and drama 6, useful arts 9, fine arts 3, science 12 and philosophy 9. Four books were borrowed from the State library and three books from the Sacramento Free Library. Visitors to reading rooms 1188— men 395, women 168, boys 358, girls 267. Borrowers 1103. Total attendance 2291 or an average of 88 daily. Twenty adult and nine juvenile cards were issued and ten surrendered making present registration 1205. : : Eleven books were purchased five books donated and thirty-five books: discarded; present accession 9640.
