BALL GAME NEXT SU NDAY Mr. and Mrs. Lou Elkus and two sons of Nevada City, motored to Marysville Sunday to attend the baseball game between Grass Valley and Marysville. Grass Valley and Marysyille are the highest in the Sacramento Vailey Saseball League and ‘Only have three more games to play to decide who has the victory. ' Marysville won Sunday. The two teams will play their next game in Grass Valley this coming Sunday. a ae we Miss Loulse Lattin returned yesesterday from:a two months vacation spent as far as Harrison Hot Springs. British Columbia. She reports a most enjoyable trip. Mr. and Mrs. ‘Clifford Hansen, of ' Livermore, are spending a few days in Nevada City visiting with Mr: and Mrs. C. E. Bosworth. They are defighted with the district and its climate. Clara Searfe. Mr. and Mrs. Osterman returned home Sunday and Mrs. Scarfe accompanied them as far as Sacramento. Gerald Hogan, who has been emPloyed at Harris’ Drug Store, will leave Wednesday morning for San Francisco, where he will enroll as a Junior in the University’of California College of Pharmacy. Miss Mamie Meservey, assistant postmaster in Nevada Ciy, is leaving today fora visit in the eastern states. She. will visit relatives in Portland, Maine, and spend some time visiting points of interest during her month’s vacation. Elza J. Kilroy, who has been in the local office for many years will take Miss Meservey’s place while she is away. Julius C. Ramm and son, of near Camptonville, were Nevada City visitors today. They are developing their quartz mining property. Mr. Ramm has had long years of experience in mining, having worked properties in Washington state and Alaska, returning home recently after about 30 years absence. Mrs. Catherine Celio and daughter left Sunday for the bay district. Miss Catherine Celio will enter the University of California as a sophomore this year. George H. Clelland, local service station owner, left Nevada City SunGay to attend the American Legion convention. in San Francisco this week. He expects to return home Wednesday. Luther Marsh, Commander Elect, of the American Legion post, and Mrs. Marsh, are attending the state convention in San Francisco. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eilerman and son of the bay district, visited with Mr. Eilerman's father, Fred LEilerman, Sr., and two. sisters, Misses Frances and Ernestine, in Nevada City Monday. Mr. and Mrs. BEilerman are camped at Silver Lake with friends and were accompanied to Nevada City by Misses Ann McGregor, and Janet McClure, and Mr. Peter Shearer. : Mrs. Hrarold Anderson and children, Richard and Jean, left Sunday with Mr. Anderson for Petaluma, where they will reside. Frank Clark, mining engineer, who is developing his mining ground 12 miles above Downieville, has written friends here he is quite pleased with Showings made this season. The forest service is building a read from
Downieville to Johnsville that is now within three miles of Clark’s property and will be a great benefit to him. R. L. P. Bigelow, superintendent of the Tahoe National Forest, returned Sunday from attending the meeting at Red Biuff of all forest service supervisors with their chief officer from Washington, D. C. Mr. Bigelow left earty this morning for Donher Lake where he joined the group that goes by horse back from there to Dutch Flat, placing: markers on the old ‘wagon road traveled by pioneers.
