In normal times great amounts of political chaff could be
'reely indeleed in and no harm done—but now there seems
to be a catch in it. Our words of condemnation, our stinging
slogans aimed at the president the administration and public
officials, are eagerly seized upon bv seditious elements, repeatof heaven. Of course we shall exercise our privileges jof free

fair and above all, constructive?
“They say,” that recently the Panama canal was saved
from destruction by the members of a certain esoteric organization. It is alleged that one of the hawk eyed leaders of the
cult discovered three German submaries lurking near the canal.

went into action and invoked curious psychic powers with the
result that two subs were sunk and a third made to disappear.
These things are indeed amazing—in fact past all whooping;
But can it be that these eager cultists mistook whale fins for
‘yeriscopes—or was the submerged ghost of the Flying Dutchman drifting by with only a few inches of jib boom discernible
above the turbid waves? =
