Stamps Abundant
In 1868 there were in this area
164 stamps, installed in 19 mills. At
Red Dog, then a prosperous town
with hotels, numerous stores, saloons
and gambling places, there were four
stamp mills. At You Bet, another
ghost town, there were six mills, at
Little York three and at Hunt’s Hill
three. There was a mill at Dutch
Flat, one at Gold Run and another
at Green Mountain.
