Parker, Republican eandidate for the State Senate, was Secretary of the Placer County Miners’ Association for seven years. Parker is at present owner in the Woods tract.of’ 70 acres of Mother lode Mineral Land lying immediately west of Grass Valley and North of the. North Star Mine, which is soon to be developed by Cooley Butler, the well known Log Angeles mine operator. an Parker states that. mining is one of the basic industries of California. The ancient gold bearing river channels that cross and_ recross the divides in the Sierras and the quartz ledges of the-state still hold countless millions awaiting development by well ‘directed capital. The millions produced are but an index of the vast golden treasure that remains. The prospector must be fostered and encouraged. The Ore Purchasing Law, commonly known as the high grade, while conceived to prevent the taking of rich ores, has in its actual workings, served to almost completely banish the prospector from the mining districts of California. It shold be repealed and supplanted by some measure that will not penalize the prospector who now has such grave difficulty in disposing of his product in small quantities. He is unable to journey for many miles to the store of the licensed gold buyer, and the red tape necessary in sending to the Mint. makes it almost impossible to sell his gold in small lots. Sneourage the prospector. From the earliest days his discoveries have made the mines, the mills,--the-mining towns and directly brought about the development of prosperous mining districts. If nominated and elected Parker associate ; ; they keys were turned in from the will intradues and vigorously support measures to rehabilitate this leading industry, to the end that the hum of the hydraulic monitor mingle with the roar mill in California.
