Sheriff Kenison said he expected
several more persons would be involved in the robberies. before investigations were completed.
Constable’ Johanson was credited
with finding a clue which led to the
arrest of the suspects. He discovered a scrap of paper with three unidentigjed telephone listings on it. in
the burglarized home of Everett Mills
at Tahoe Pines. :
He sent the numbers, together
with g detailed description of stolen
articles to Chief of Police Charles
Dullea in San Francisco.
One of the numbers turned out to
be that of a Post Street automobile
rental agency. Inspectors Ray Hunt
atid David Brady checked and discovered an automobile was rented te
the Greathouses on October 2¥.
The speedometer showed the car
had been driven 497 miles approximately the round trip distance from
San Franisco to Tahoe and the machine had returned the following
day.
The officers visited the hotel op-.
erated by the Greathouses at 481
Minna Street and found a large number of items tallying with Johanson’s
description.
A further check uncovered other
articles in a garage. Anithor ities said
the loot comprised outboard motors,
radios, clothing; pedding, fur coats,
vacuum cleaners and household furniture,
