Miss Davis announced that the students: would be examined free of charge during the latter part of the week by Dr. Sea, tuberculosis specia lst and Dr. Esther Rosecranz, who holds the Chair of Tuberculosis at the University of California. During each study period for the rest of the day the students are requested to fill out blanks provided by Miss Davis, giving the personal health record. of each studénts. The members of this federation, which is a state wide organizations consist of novitiate members of the various Honor. Societies. , This is their second meeting, one having been held in Sacramento last year. Ar these meetings the student representatives from all the. northern school honor societies get together and discuss the many problems which arise during the year. Cox, faculty advisor of the northern district, explained the value, .meani ing and awarding of life certificates. A student from Sacramento muade a report on scholarships offered to C. . . F. members by various colleges. Among the topies discussed were the advisability of the quarter basis for awarding membership and the merits of the scholarship system vs against the point system. In the . scholastic system a pupii reeeives credit for the actual classifieation which he receives in his various sub: jects, whereas in the point systerm the. student also receives eredit for non-curricular activites such as journalism, athletics and draianties. After much discussion, pro and con a resolution was passed in the point system. Bridge Builder’.’ At the conclusion , a shield was presented by Warren Chapman from the Civies Club, to the High School. Holden Pierce, President of the Student Body, accepted the shield. This shield is to be hung in the assembly room and on it as the end of each year is to be engraved the name of the student who is considered representative of the Studest Body. The faculty will select this student on the basis of scholarship, participation in school activities, and outstanding personal charactgristics. The object of this shield is to encourage not. only cholarship, but allrounded development of the student.
