First, happiness. We are all in pursuit of happiness, but, like a “‘Will-o-TheWisp,” it eludes most vf us, yet the fact remains, that the surest way to obtain happiness is by making others happy; not forgetting that happiness and prosperity run very close together; so use your best efforts to keep the stream of prosperity constantly and vigorously in motion; you can-do this by purchasing all the commodities necessary to life right here where you live. It is often said (and truly), that money can not buy happiness, but here is the exception that proves the rule—here is one way in which money can bring happiness not only to those around you; but to yourself as well if you keep the stream of prosperity merrily flowing by spending your money here. In many towns recently visited by me, the appearance of prosperity was conspicious by its absence, but here in Grass Valley and Nevada City the reverse of this is true. Now the surest way to perpetuate this local prosperity is to keep the money and good will here by patronizing all home industry and enterprise. : On the other hand— just think what a lamentable picture would present itself if you did ALL your trading in places away from here— prosperity would surely be dead—Isn’t that perfectly plain? Look in your dictionary, ponder over the 1 exact definition of that word “reciprocity.” It will give you something to think about.
