An earthquake shock was distinctly felt in Nevada City Tuesday night at 10:13 o’clock. Many local people felt the shock which was also felt at other points in the county. Coach Bev Baron of the local high school returned Wednesday morning from Sonora to better guide tne destinies of his basketball teams this evening. ® R. S. Turman, local mining man with interests in the Scott’s Flat district will leave tomorrow for Sacramento on a business trip. If negotiations warrent, he will go to San Francisco later. H. Ricksecker, Boy Scout and Cub Scout official from Auburn with jurisdiction over this territory, was a visitor on Scout business in Nevada City and Grass Valley Wednesday afternoon. His company handles echemieals and scientific apparatus. J. E. Thomas and Jack Hall of Ely, Nevada stopped in Nevada City for an indefinate period yesterday afternoon. Coach Bev Barron will leave for his home in Sonora tomorrow morning. Before returning for the 1933 school year, he plans to spend some time in the bay region. Milton Schiffner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schiffner, of Nevada City, will arrive this week to spend the Christmas holiday with his parents and brothers. Mr. and Mrs. John W. Darke are preparing to entertain the following at a delightful Christmas dinner: Postmaster and Mrs. P. G. Scadden, Walter Scadden and Miss Mary Hoskins. Eddie Trimmer will leave Saturday morning for San Francisco to spend Christmas with his wife and son and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. R. MeMath. Mr. Trimmers wife and son, who have spent the last two weeks. in the city will. accompany him home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Johnson of San Francisco, are to spend. the Xmas holiday with her mother, Mrs. Mary Guenther of Nevada City. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Allen of Chico will motor over to spend Christmas Day with his brother, Robert Allen and wife. .L. T. Lake, mining engineer, and Charles Coble were visiting in this district -Tuesday and Wednesday from Los Angeles. The men made further inspection of mining properties in this district on which options are held by the Gillespie initeregts jof Los Angeles.
