SACRIAMENTO: For the third time in its history the 3 cents per gallon California gasoline tax has produced more than $7,000,000in a single month. The State Board of Equalization made this revelation here today with the dnnouncement that upon the basis of distribution of 233,423,963 gallons of motor vehicle fuel, the tax collections for October had been $7,002,719. [These taxable distributions exceed those for the same*month of 1945 by 24.99 per cent, despite the fact that there was no rationing in October last year, This contrasts, ‘with a gain of only 12.9 per cent registered in September over the same month a year ago, and is indicative of a strong upward sweep in the tax yield. E Some downward seasonal fluctuation may ‘be expected in November and December but the gasoline tax has already produced $65,511,797 during the first ten months of 1946. There is every reason to believe that j the annual total will be at least $78,600,000 marking a gain of $15,000; 000 or almost 25 per cent over the tax for .1941 the highest previously recorded. Under pressure ‘of rationing the 1943 yield dropped to a low of $48,893,758. BIRTHS Bloomdale—In Nevada City, December 14,,to Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Bloomdale of Grass Valley a son.
