This bill, if passed would make declaration of war by _ this country solely dependent upon a majority vote of all the voters in a nation-wide referendum. It is quite likely the mere consideration of sucha bill in this country has already provided extreme satisfaction at the International Firm of Aggression, Ltd. The senior partners in the firm namely Mussolini, and associatés, and the Mikado, and Hitler, are probably already discounting their estimates of the~«peril of affronting the United State$. FOUR PARTIES OF BOTANISTS T0 EXPLORE ANDES BERKELEY, Dee. 27.—Announced details of the University of Calipedition into the Andes, one of the} most ambitious enterprises of its’ can educational institution, show! four parts, and will operate on a, high speed basis. The expedition is under the direction of Dr. TT. H. Goodspeed, director of the University’s botanical gardens, and is_being financed by the California Garden Clubs, Inc., and private donors. One section of the expedition will cover the Tierra Del Fuego area at the southern tip of South America for progenitors of the tobacco plant hitherto unknown te science. Anothber will gather tobacco and ornamenti ested less im visions than in taking practical measure to prevent war, will join hands} with all intelligent citizens in action against the crackpot Ludlow resolution, a Biece of escapist thinking tit there’ ever was one.
