Sharp, when asked about men for his camp south of the Nevada City city limits. stated the buildings are empty, and ‘he is without a man this month, but lthere are 170 men in the SERA or Creek Unemployment Camp In past seasons Sharp’s crews have done a lot of provement work in short jworking but at this camp the men are idle. If -he had been able to call these men on the fire lines last week they would have been controlled much earlier with far less damage done, but he has no authority to call them. . BE. A. The board, working out of Sacramento, is visiting Friant and Conera Costa divisions of the project where negotiations are under way to settle progerty and water tights, Walker R. Young, chief engineer, said. These negotiations must he completed before any construction ean be started, he said. The company was excluded, however, from carrying passengers by stage between Sacramento and Marysville. Pacific Greyhound Lines was authorized to conduct a stage service between Red Bluff and Roseville, via The state ;tion movement will continue. Marysville and Chico. A state textbook budget approximately 50 per cent greater than for the current biennium will be sought for the next two years by the state department of education. Textbook supplies have become depleted and many of the books in use are obsolete the department says. The appropriation to be sought is $1,140,211.
